The Berkeley College, Information Systems Department is seeking a full time Manager of Desktop Services supporting the New York State campuses. This position will provide technical management at NY State campuses. He/she will report directly to the Director of Desktop Services and manage a team of 4-5 technicians. The schedule for this position is 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM five days per week working out the Midtown Manhattan campus.
This position requires excellent hands-on technical and managerial skills. Individuals must have the ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task in a high pressure situation and perform regular follow-up on issues as required. Strong interpersonal skills are required. Candidates must be willing to travel to all NY campuses at least twice per month and to NJ campuses as needed.
This position requires an individual with strong hands-on knowledge of PC hardware, peripheral equipment and client side configuration in the Windows XP and Vista environment. A working knowledge of Active Directory is required. Responsibilities for this position include monitoring all NY Helpdesk queues for emergency and priority situations, establishing strong working relationships with the New York Campus communities, performing a routine daily walk-through of the campus to be sure all labs are in working order, monitoring of the New York Campus call queue and the prompt and effective resolution of Helpdesk tickets. At least 5 year`s experience managing a technical team is required. Candidates for this position should be self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Qualified candidates must have 5 years experience managing a technical team, strong written and oral communication skill and experience working with a call management system. Travel to other campuses in the NY and NJ area is necessary. A bachelor`s degree in a related field is preferred.
